This second video letter continues a long-distance correspondence between Eloy Infante and Lucy Aukafolau, unfolding across four video letters exchanged between Havana and Hong Kong between September and December 2022.
Responding to Eloy’s first letter from Havana, Lucy writes from Hong Kong during a moment of transition. While helping her mother prepare to move back to New Zealand, she moves through the city on foot, observing its pace, textures, and rhythms.
Her letter weaves together everyday situations and small interruptions, allowing humor and informality to coexist with reflection.
Facilitated and curated by Mudmap, the project explores the video letter as a time-based, conversational format, one that accommodates distance, delay, and the uneven temporality of lived experience.
The exchange will continue with two further video letters, extending the dialogue across time and place.
